Our Home Inspection Solutions

Home Inspection Services

We follow the New Jersey Standards of Practice for home inspection as defined by NJAC 13:40-15.16, including a visual and non-invasive evaluation of a property’s major systems and components. We thoroughly assess accessible areas, including the structure, roof, electrical systems, plumbing, and more. This foundational service empowers homebuyers to understand the true condition of the property before making a significant investment. Our clear and concise reports ensure you are informed without overwhelming technical jargon. Trust us to identify potential issues and provide peace of mind throughout your purchasing journey.

Radon Testing

Radon Testing is a crucial step in ensuring the safety of your future home. Our lab-affiliated team provides rapid results to ensure you’re informed about the radon levels present in the property. Recognized as a significant health risk linked to lung cancer, knowing your home’s radon concentration is paramount. We conduct thorough tests and aim to deliver results within 24 hours, empowering you to make informed decisions. You’re ready for your next steps in the often fast-paced real estate market after receiving our comprehensive report.

Wood-Destroying Insect (WDI)

Wood-destroying Insects can cause significant damage to a home’s structural components, often without obvious warning signs for many years. First Line provides visual inspections of readily accessible areas for evidence of common WDI, including subterranean termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and wood-boring beetles. Our inspections focus on visible evidence of insect activity or damage, such as mud tubes, damaged wood, frass (droppings), exit holes, and other recognizable indicators. Findings are clearly documented to help buyers and homeowners better understand potential concerns.

Mold and Air Testing

Concerned about possible mold or indoor air-quality issues? We offer mold testing to help identify and document potential fungal growth in a home. Depending on the property and circumstances, testing may include targeted surface sampling and/or air sampling, with all samples submitted to an independent laboratory for analysis. Testing can provide useful information when visible growth, musty odors, water intrusion, or other concerns warrant further investigation. Most home inspectors identify possible mold in their reports, but not all offer diligent testing. Our goal is to provide clear, objective information to help you make the best possible decision about your future home. Our average turnaround is 3 days from the lab, but 24-hour turnaround is available in urgent situations.

Underground Oil Tank Sweep

Buying a home with a history of oil heating? First Line uses a magnetic locator to scan accessible areas of the property for ferrous-metal anomalies that may indicate the presence of an underground storage tank. This non-invasive screening can help identify potential buried tanks and determine whether further investigation (such as ground-penetrating radar) may be warranted before purchasing. Results are documented and clearly explained with a property sketch and pictures. Even if a home uses a modern heat source currently, oil use was very common in New Jersey. Storage tanks were often placed in basements or underground for protection, but abandoned for many possible reasons. As they degrade, tanks commonly leak into the soil around them. In New Jersey, this often requires extensive, possibly expensive remediation efforts which typically fall upon the property owner. We believe our magnetic locator screening is a cost-effective way to provide homeowners with security and confidence closing on a new home.

Pre-Listing and Investor Special

A Pre-Listing Inspection helps homeowners gain a competitive advantage in the real estate market. By identifying visible defects and maintenance concerns prior to listing, you can proactively address issues that might deter potential buyers. Our expert inspectors ensure a thorough assessment, equipping you with the knowledge needed to enhance your home’s value. This service not only fosters buyer confidence but also streamlines the sale process, resulting in fewer surprises. Investing in a Pre-Listing Inspection could lead to quicker sales and higher offers.

Our Investor Special is a more streamlined inspection for the experienced investor, flipper or wholesaler seeking a bottom-line assessment. By inspecting the property’s major systems (roof, heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, foundation and structure), we can rapidly assist in determining whether a property will fit your specific investment goals.
